Keep cholesterol at bay with pork rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and Omega-3

Monounsaturated fatty acids (such as oleic acid, also found in olive oil) contribute to reducing levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing the good cholesterol (HDL). Pork meat is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (type Omega-3) and therefore it is a fundamental food.

Most fatty acids can be synthesised in the body, but human beings lack the enzymes needed to produce two of them: the essential fatty acids which have to be obtained by taking them in as part of the diet, they are omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. 

Foods low in cholesterol

Today, unsaturated fatty acids and their effects on health are a very topical theme and their presence in foods arouses great interest. In fact, among the information most searched for in the network is the low cholesterol foods list. And yes, pork meat is your ally in the fight against cholesterol and overweight.

The same as the well-known blue fish, pork meat has Omega-3, a nutrient not only healthy but indispensible, for example in the development of the brain, nerves and eyes during pregnancy and infancy. It is known that it also prevents heart attacks, helps to reduce blood pressure and improves the symptoms of some inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

Varied diet

So now you know, if you want to help to keep your cholesterol at bay and reduce the risk of suffering cardiovascular disease, pork meat has to be a regular part of your diet. Together with other foods, naturally, as the richness of a diet is found in its variety.
